The question you raise "how can such a formulation lead to computations" doesn't
bother me in the least! Throughout my whole life as a mathematician, the possibility of making explicit,
elegant computations has always come out by itself, as a by-product of a thorough conceptual
understanding of what was going on. Thus I never bothered about whether what would come
out would be suitable for this or that, but just tried to understand – and it always turned out that
understanding was all that mattered.
The CSG actively supports transcription projects aimed at enhancing accessibility to hard-to-read materials and unpublished works within the Grothendieckian community. This includes handwritten texts and selected existing editions that are being improved for better legibility. These collaborative endeavors are focused on enriching our archive, thereby facilitating the exploration and research of Grothendieck’s works by scholars and enthusiasts alike.
The lists are organized into two main sections: “Works” and “Letters.” Each section is further divided into two parts: “Completed” and “Ongoing” transcriptions. In the “Completed” section, transcriptions are available for proofreading and open for editorial projects. Conversely, “Ongoing” transcriptions are currently being written and may undergo further revisions. The distinction between “Works” and “Letters” is intentional. “Works” primarily comprises materials suitable for publication, excluding those that have already been published, which are appropriately categorized under “Published works.” “Letters,” on the other hand, are more focused on facilitating research pursuits. This strategic initiative aims to indirectly promote the potential publication of new materials, thereby enhancing their institutionalization and outreach.
